My Working Holiday at Surf n Snow

When I first came to Surf ‘n’ Snow Backpackers in Auckland, I thought maybe I’d just stay for two or three nights. Then I would maybe go travelling to other places, I thought.

I never expected that the atmosphere of Surf ‘n’ Snow would convince me to stay so much longer!!!

The hostel’s actually quite big – one of the biggest in New Zealand – but it really doesn’t feel like it. I don’t know how or why but I’m sure that somehow the loveliest travellers always come to this place! Everyone’s so kind and it’s very easy to make friends; there’s always someone to hang out with, explore with, talk with…

After a few weeks though I wanted to see a bit of the area around Auckland! The very helpful and friendly receptionist Christopher at the travel desk helped me and some friends organise car hire and backpacker accommodation for a nice little adventure! We visited Piha, Paihia, Hot Water Beach, Rotorua and the Waitomo Caves. Even though there was so much interesting stuff to do and see it felt like coming back home to Surf ‘n’ Snow Backpackers at the end of it though! We could catch up with our new friends there and share stories…

Anyway, even in Auckland’s volcanic wonderland harbour there are plenty of nice places that you can get away to for the day if the city gets too much for you – Rangitoto and Waiheke islands, for example… They can organise ferry tickets for you at Surf ‘n’ Snow’s travel desk too.

Funnily enough, in the end since I was staying there so long anyway I ended up doing exchange work at Surf ‘n’ Snow too! That’s a handy way to save some money! And the best way I can think of for spending more fun times with my friends here. Some of my friends are working here in Auckland, some are studying… or both! (oh by the way, if you need help finding a school to study (English, hospitality or tourism, for example) they can organise that at the travel desk too. They arrange free trials and everything.)

I have to go back to my country soon and I’m happy but mainly I’m really sad to leave Surf ‘n’ Snow L(( I’ve had such fun times here! I will miss all my friends here so much!!!!!

So I guess I have to recommend Surf ‘n’ Snow Backpackers… but be careful! You might not want to ever leave!!!!
