Awesome! The location is the best of Auckland, moreover a new countdown was just opening! The staff were so friendly, they helped me to organize all my trip in NZ… They were calling for me to book an other hostels and reserve all my bus.. I was in 2 others backpackers the night before and the kitchen was closed at 22pm.. Here you can cooking all the night! Definitely awesome!!

The booking was made for a twin room, turned up and it was a double. Either a problem with Hostelworld or the Backpackers – not sure which. We suggested to the staff at the hostel to put an extra mattress down in the room, which they did very promptly.

Stayed here because it was the cheapest bed i could find. the hostel is ok and in a good location. Alot of the people staying there seemed to be long termers or working there and were kinda rude. the staff at reception are excellent and very helpful. no atmosphere but its fine if you’re looking for a cheap place to sleep.

The curtains in the rooms need to be thicker, or another layer as the street lights shone through very easily. I used the second floor bathroom, there needs to be a dresser/buffet or similar against the window… because the doors open the wrong way to each other in the showers and leave no space to manevour. There needs to be a second hook on the walls of each dry space in the shower

Awesome location and has all you need. Highly recommended if you are not into staying in a huge hostel like nomads and base.

This hostel was great. All the staff was really friendly and super helpful with
recommendations about where to go and how to get started in Auckland. The atmosphere
was perfect as well, everyone is so welcoming and itʼs really helpful that the receptionists
are from all around the world and speak many languages. Especially in the beginning
when I just arrived they made sure I felt at home and comfortable. The hostel is located
right in the center of town, itʼs clean and comfortable and most of all safe.
From the second I arrived I was looked after and there was always someone to give me
advice about organizational things like getting an IRD number, bank account etc. As well
as planning activities and recommending things to do, places to visit. Straight away I was
informed about all different ways to travel around and get the most out of my stay in NZ.
They played a big roll in making my trip unique and it was great to get some insider tips off
of other travelers.
All in all my stay at the Surf ʻNʼ Snow was fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent location. Room had the bare essentials, but satisfactory as only on premises for showers and a good rest. Loved the Skytower looming outside my window while sitting on my bed. Great views of a very busy street and Sky City. Would definitely stay again.

  1. Nice hostel with perfect location! Very helpful staff. All doors have security codes and there are lockers under each bed. Would definitely come again :-)

Stayed in a 4 bed mixed dorm with ensuite. Nice and clean. Staff were friendly and happy to help with anything. Good location just off Queen St and opposite the casino.

I have visited Auckland a number of times and stayed in some of the more famous (or infamous!) backpackers, but Surf N Snow is easily the best. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, the rooms were clean and spacious and lock boxes were available for each bed in the room. The location is fantastic and right in the middle of the city, very close to public transport and the airport bus. Overall atmosphere was great and even the other guests were smiley and happy! I’ll definitely go back!

I had a great time at Surf N’ Snow! The guests were friendly, and the staff were very helpful and informative. I wasn’t sure whether to book a tour with Kiwi Experience, Magic or Stay, and the staff were excellent at explaining the difference – in the end I chose Kiwi Experience to go up north and loved it! The location is outstanding! I was very impressed with Surf N Snow!

I really enjoyed my stay at Surf and Snow, the staff were very helpful and there was a very friendly atmosphere in the hostel. The location was really conveinient, and the facilities in the hostel were good. The travel serivce they provided was also great, I booked a trip to Rotorua through them and was very happy with the trip.

Surf ‘n Snow Backpackers was just a block or 2 off of Queen Street in downtown Auckland. It was a short walk to the ferry terminal if you want to head off to Waiheke Island and is a block or two from Auckland’s Sky Tower.I thought this place was pretty nice, though nothing overly special. The bed was relatively comfortable, though I think I scared my roommates when I showed up for the first time at 1:00 in the morning…Loved the location Feb 10, 2010Value:   4

What did you like: Excellent place with very super cool helpful stuff which is always helpful and concerned about you. I have never been to a hostel where you get Free Food and so much help in every case. Also the Location is fantastic, if I rate it overall it is for sure one of the best places I have been in Town. I would highly recommend that place to people who are able to accept the Japanese way of living. The atmosphere is very familiar and is a silent place in a city full of trouble. Enjoy your stay – Christiane

What did you like: Really good location, right opposite the sky tower. Staff are helpful and friendly and there are loads of leafletsetc on stuff to do. Bathrooms are clean and fans in the bedroom. People sleep in the reception and tv room and there are signs up everywhere saying do not disturb which we found a bit strange!? Never got into the tv room beacuse there was always people sleeping there?
